The agenda was approved

May reported that the Washington Toxics Coalition and Citizens for a Healthy Bay are interested in getting together to discuss strategies related to the smelter plume. They are planning a meeting in Normandy Park.

Shaheeda is setting up a visit to the Asarco site. May and possibly others will attend.

Steve reported that IRPPC is still working on its contract issues with the Department of Ecology, but expects imminent solution to them. Once they are resolved, their two contractors can move to get the appropriate work done. In includes supporting the website, writing several documents summarizing work to date, and working on evaluating laboratories.

Chief Wilson wants to attend our meeting. There was a discussion of the lethality of arsenic inhalation form burning CCA lumber. Steve will look into the issue to find references and write a draft article. Shaheeda will look into finding a volunteer for our next meeting to go after the CCA sales issue.

Rita reported that the Phytoremediation samples were all digested and she is seeking a laboratory to perform the analyses. She also reported on her experience speaking at the Highline Hospital. That meeting was quite interesting bringing together community concerns.

There was extensive discussion of the medical symptoms document prepared by Melissa and Rita. Some modifications were suggested, and Rita and Melissa will take care of them and then re-distribute the document. It needs to be reviewed by health care providers for utility and clarity. The following people will be asked to provide review. Responsible parties are in parentheses.

Jeff Duchin?(Bonnnie)

Kim Farrell?(Rita)

Sjardo Steneker?(Melissa)

Jim Sheffield??(Melissa)

Dr. Kappelman (May)

Bonnie shared that a "blast fax" had been sent by Public Health to all physicians and alternative health care providers to alert them to the potential for symptoms of heavy metals toxicity. We should partner with them for distribution of our document.

Respectfully submitted
